Discharge information

Discharge information

The new service Discharge information offers the market a practical and accessible solution for all the communications surrounding a to-be-discharged bulk carrier. It is no longer necessary to frequently e-mail, call or send faxes. All the parties in the bulk sector (agents, cargo handling agents, terminals, surveyors, forwarders) are able to operate much more efficiently.

The service Discharge information combines several elements:
As much as possible, information already present in the Port Community System is reused for Discharge information. (Cargo handling) agents in the bulk sector offer input for the new service through Cargo declaration Internet.

Market parties & planning
Port infolink is developing this new service for the bulk sector in close consultation with a
project group from the business community. The market introduction has been planned for the summer of 2008.

Business issues
Regarding the unloading of a bulk carrier, the bulk terminal/surveyor/forwarder and (cargo handling) agent have frequent contact with one another about, among other things, cargo information (B/L information), stowage information and the actual weight discharged. Most of this information exchange currently takes places by telephone, fax and mail. This constitutes a major burden on all parties. The service Discharge information offers the solution to this.
