Notification waste disposal Each time a vessel calls at the port, it needs to notify the Harbor master of the waste materials it is carrying aboard. Through the service Notification waste disposal, shipping companies and cargo handling agents can efficiently organize this. The service Notification waste disposal is part of the service Vessel notification and, in combination with the services Notification dangerous goods and Statement harbor dues, makes it possible to easily deal with all the liabilities surrounding a ship�s call through the Port Community System. The service Notification waste disposal is highly user-friendly. Shipping companies and cargo handling agents can easily import Excel-based notifications filled out by the captain into the new service. It is no longer necessary to re-type information. Ship information that is already available via Vessel notification is also re-used, as is the pre-wash information from Notification dangerous goods (liquid bulk sector only). Waste collectors in addition automatically receive a pre-notification specifying which materials are to be taken from the ship.

Business issues For the mandatory notifications about visiting ships, companies in the past needed to use two systems alongside one another: Port infolink�s Port Community System and the Port of Rotterdam Authority�s Web Jonas. This was inefficient and unnecessarily resulted in extra work for shipping companies and cargo handling agents. With the development of the services Notification waste disposal, Notification dangerous goods and Statement harbor dues, companies can now efficiently submit all their mandatory ship notifications via the Port Community System. Due to the strategic importance Notification waste disposal has to the port, the costs for making use of this service are generated from the general revenues of the Port of Rotterdam Authority.
